SUPPLEMENTARY EDUCATION

FOCUS ON THE FAMILY

The role of the PARENT / GUARDIAN is key to the success of this program. Integral in Educare is the empowerment of the parents, reiterating their role as champions of the process of advancement of their children.

Eternus works closely with the parents, and guardians in some cases, to encourage their greater involvement in their child’s life, and to lead healthy family lives, reiterating the need to invest their resources in their children’s physical and emotional needs.

Apart from the regular contact, engagement with parents extends to supporting them through monthly meetings and relevant workshops. Professional resources like experts in finance, education etc. serve as resources for these interactions. The Eternus team serve as first line counsellors for these families, the team having done a basic qualification in counselling.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Eternus supports the education of economically underprivileged children by funding

- a major share of their school and college fees

- their uniforms and books

- annual medical insurance

- their annual medical checkup for them and their families

Funding their school / college fees is bookended by supplemental instruction in academics and instruction on Christian values, life skills, good health and responsible citizenship.

Currently Educare covers 25 students. Over the last three years, some students completed their schooling and have moved into Colleges. Some have opted for professional courses and others are taking courses in top tier colleges like the Venkateswara Engineering College, Stella Maris, Womens Christian College and the Madras Christian College.

Eternus have partnered with two private schools in Chennai and has four full time staff who engage the students in various activities every day of the week. The Foundation also draws upon a number of volunteers to help the students in specific areas, some of who come in as part of the internship requirements of their College course work.
