SCHOOL PROGRAMME


Board Examinations


The 2023 Board examination for Class XII began on the 13th of March and for Class X on the 6th of March, and the results were published on 8th and 19th of May, respectively.


Entering 11th std

Following the results of Xth std:

  • Dhanashree has joined for Commerce with Business Maths group at Anita Methodist School.

  • Sam Joshua for Commerce with Business Maths,

  • Mohan Balaji for Computer Science with Maths,

  • Kingsley for Commerce with Computer Science group at St.Thomas School.


Schools re-open in June


Both the schools re-opened on the 12th of May for this academic year. Our strength now in Anita Methodist School is 9 and St. Thomas School is 16.


We have our evening classes at St. Thomas School Centre on Mondays and Thursdays, and for Anita Methodist School on Tuesdays and Fridays. Our volunteers, Harini teaches Class 10 and 11 in St.Thomas School Centre, and Pooja (who finished 12th in Eternus) helps Class 11 in Anita Methodist School.


Mini-VBS programme


In May, we organized a Mini VBS for the students between classes 6 - 8 of both schools. Mr. Arun and Ms. Jeeva, of Bible Club Ministries, were our resource team for this meeting.










On the Final day we had songs, dance, and skit performed by our students.



We had the children speak on one value they learnt and how they will put into practice, which will be mentored during the following academic year.





COLLEGE PROGRAMME


During March and April, we gave the students reading practice. The articles for reading practice covered Importance of reading, Morning discipline, Planning the day, Mindful friendships, Being curious, and Social Media Influence.


Our offline and online classes included Computers, English and Personality development. PPT techniques like Animation, Transition and Audio effects. We spent one–on–one time with them in analyzing and giving them feedback on their work.


As part of our Personality Development learning, we reflected on the 3rd chapter of the ‘7 Habits of Highly Effective People’ by Stephen Covey - “Put First things First”.


In May, we kickstarted a new series, “Skills You Need” which covers all necessary skills they need for their career. We are working on organization as a skill; as part of their assignment, they have to come up with an event proposal, invite, itinerary etc


College Admissions


The students who passed out of their XIIth std exams this years have secured admissions into the following colleges

We met with the new college students to give them an orientation on the Eternus College Program. We will begin classes in right earnest in July.




Santosh, who completed Mechanic Autobody Painting, an ITI course at the Govt ITI, Guindy, has secured a job at Wheels India. His role would be painting the rims of the wheels. We thank God for using and lifting him to where he is now.





Camp Follow up sessions


On 26th of March we held our first follow-up meeting after the Camp. It was led by Lesley Christian and Chrisida, who also led our Camp. The program had songs, activity, discussions on how the students are addressing their challenges and how they should spend more time with God. Two students, Sam Joshua (Class 10, St. Thomas School and Ashwini (I B.A Corporate Economics, WCC) shared their testimony on how the camp had impacted their life. Lesley spoke on the importance of realizing God’s presence and His works in our lives.

We had our second follow-up meeting of the camp on 18th of June. We had Pastor. Lesley speak to our children. This camp follow-up was designed for the children to be emnpowered to experience the joy of making God centered choices in terms of friendships and habits. The session addressed the following three questions; What is Right choice? Why is making Right choice important? How to make the Right choice?


HOUSE VISITS


We had a chance to meet our Eternus families in May. This is the first physical visit after COVID. It was great to see improvement in murltiple facets of many of our children. Few observations that stood out from the house visits were.

- The children felt that the Discovery classes were something that they always looked forward to in Eternus Class. Some children have taken conscious effort of reading Bible and praying every day.

- Most children practice saving money at home and they have contributed to parents needs when they were struggling


PARENTS MEETING


The St. Thomas School and Anita Methodist School's Parents' meetings were held on 27th and 28th of May.








The meetings began with prayer and was followed by parents introducing themselves, an ice-breaker session and a brief talk on ‘Monitoring the screen timing of Children’. Then we had announcements from the school and college front and post that, a discussion on matters of concern and thoughts about how we could all contribute to making our Eternus experiences better.


INTERNSHIP and NEW TEAM MEMBER !


Ms Rachel Arputha, student of Social Work, Madras Christian College, did her 30 days Internship with us from the 1st of May till 13th of June and then joined as a full-time staff at Eternus.
