Celebrating our recent stories: a reflection of the last three months

Hello Eternus family!

ETERNUS SCHOOL CLASSES

August was an eventful month as both schools held their First Mid-Term examinations. We continue to meet the children at both Centres every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

In September, it was time for the Quarterly exams. We were thrilled to see the St Thomas students making great progress, while the Anita school students needed a little extra effort.

To make studying time at the Centres more exciting and productive, we've introduced a 'Goal Based Study Time' technique. This helps students cover a greater portion of their syllabus during our classes.

At St. Thomas Centre, we continue to have Harini, a 2nd year B. Com student from Vels College, who volunteers to teach 10th and 11th graders. She is already giving back to the community even before she finishes graduation!

PARENTS MEETING

We've scheduled monthly parent meetings on the last Wednesday of each month for our school parents. College parents are covered through a Zoom meetings at a convenient time.

The meetings start with a devotion and a fun activity to warm up. We move on to talking on a particular topic, sharing experiences, and making general announcements for the month.

Some of the topics we've discussed in the past three months:

Where parents go wrong in Parenting Teenagers

Building responsibilities of children at home

Making Home: Honoring everyone, Open communication with kids, Meeting/Spending time with kids outside home, Encouragement

NEW MEMBER ON OUR TEAM

Join us in welcoming Ms. Adalene Rana, our newest team member!

She recently graduated with an MSW from Madras Christian College. We're excited to have her on board as Programme Executive since October this year.

COLLEGE CLASSES

Pooja, our budding lawyer, started her classes at the prestigious School of Excellence in Law in Chennai.

In August and September, our 1st-year college students had fun with a 14-day writing practice, learning the basics of PowerPoint presentations, reading the book 'Atomic Habits,' and working on a workbook.

Meanwhile, our 2nd-year college students embarked on a journey of self-improvement. They had an intense 30-day writing practice, exploring themes like daily journaling, values, gratitude, and overcoming teen issues. They even dived into the book '7 Habits' and mastered Data Interpretation and Script Writing for PowerPoint Presentations.

In October, the 2nd-year students honed their reading skills and practiced letter writing. We're committed to helping them develop their skills and reach new heights.

KIDS’ CAMP

We organized our first stay-over Kid’s Camp during the 6th and 7th of October at Mannah Farm, Padappai on the outskirts of Chennai. This is a new initiative where we wanted the students of Class 9 and below to have an overnight stay camp experience. We had 12 children attended with great enthusiasm. A team from Christian Sports Fellowship were our resource people and the theme of the camp was, ‘Children of God’.

The Activities, sessions and evening games were taken care of by the CSF Team. The Movie time in the evening featured the film ‘Letters to God’ based on which we conducted a discussion with the students.

The children enjoyed it as it was their first overnight stay camp, and they look forward to the next. A parent couple from St Thomas School accompanied the Eternus Team to help take care of the students.

BOARD MEETING

The annual Board meeting was held on September 23rd (Saturday). We showcased the progress of our school and college students, the strong bond within families, and the spiritual impact on each child.

We want to express our gratitude to all the parents, volunteers and donors who support our mission of educating and empowering children.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Wonderful 2024!
